Late last week we had our first confirmation of nesting Red Crossbills this
year as some birders documented carrying of nest material in Douglas County. It
was also the first-ever documentation of Type 4's nesting in Wisconsin. Pics

Today I visited one of my Bayfield County priority blocks and saw many signs of
breeding activity, including many isolated pairs, several males feeding
females, one copulation event, and, best of all, a pair nest-building 45 feet
