Greetings fellow birdnerds, I was at the Milwaukee County Zoo this past Saturday, the 19th. It's approaching the time of year when I love checking the ponds to see if there are any odd duck species migrating through ever since I randomly stumbled upon a bunch of Redheads on the lagoon a few years back. This time on the pond outside the aviary a Wood Duck caught my eye, a beautiful bright male that was tagging along with a pair of Mallards, which I thought was amusing. Then I spotted a Northern Pintail, which made me happy because Pintails are one of my personal favorites to stumble across and I rarely get to see them. I was just curious if it's normal to see Pintails around this time of year? I read that they're one of the earlier of the migrating ducks. Or do they over winter here and I just didn't know? Sorry if it's a silly question, maybe these pretty pictures I took of him will make it up to you: http://spatzie.tumblr.com/post/3413052609 http://spatzie.tumblr.com/post/3413033896 Thanks for any info!
