I went over to the Port Washington harbor early this morning (around 8:00).
Scanning the lake by the north break wall yielded standard birds. However
moving over to the "beach" area yielded the adult Laughing Gull feeding on dead
fish. I spent about a half hour enjoying it, along with Jim E and another
birder. Jim had indicated that it was already there when he arrived around
7:00. There is an impressive number and variety of gulls in the harbor along
with some waterfowl. The Peregrine Falcon flew into its nest box when I
checked it later.
Working north Harrington Beach and Kohler SPs were very quiet. However
Sheboygan had more activity than I have seen in my previous stops there. By
the parking lot/piers were 1 Glaucous and 3 Great Black-backed Gulls and on the
lake single Black and Surf Scoters.
