Hi all -
We have had a special treat this afternoon. For only the second time in 20
years we had a male pileated woodpecker visit our backyard wooded lot, which
also extends eastward for about a quarter mile. He has been around for
several hours, flying from tree to tree seeking either grubs, or possible a
decent nesting site? Is it too early for nest site selection? He was on one
spot on a tree for quite some time and the chips were really flying.
We think they fly in here from the Kohler River Wildlife area which is about
a mile away. Whatever, we would love it if in fact they would nest here.
