Late last week on the way home from work, I swung past Pewaukee Lake by passing through downtown on the east end of the lake. I was surprised to see several American Coots, and while I have never seen Cormorants, I assume a flock of big black birds standing more upright must be Cormorants. The Cormorants were several hundred yards away on the island most visible from the east end. THe Coots were on the north end of downtown just off the railroad tracks: American Coot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22836210@N03/5655576933/in/photostream Cormorants: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22836210@N03/5656148384/in/photostream I couldn't pass up posting a nice photo of a black capped chickadee sitting in the tree in my back yard. I've also posted a couple photos of a red squirrel and bluebell. On Sunday, there were two pair of Wood Ducks in the "pond" on Main St. off Hwy 83 in the village of Wales.
