There is a possibility that Martha originated from Shawano Co. and then a 
captive flock present in Milwaukee in the late 19th Century. There is no direct 
evidence of her origin as the Cincinnati Zoo flock had multiple origins. 
Martha's zookeeper had stated that she did come from the Milwaukee flock as he 
apparently was familar with individual birds. In any event the story about the 
Milwaukee flock and its caretaker, David Whittaker is very interesting. I have 
been able to physically track down to within a few feet, using city plats and a 
very rare photograph, the location of Whittaker's cage as described by Ruthven 
Deane(see attached articles) here in Milwaukee. More on that later.
