I was beginning to think I was chasing a ghost after an entire morning of missing this bird. But with the help of the up-to-the-minute updates from Nolan Pope and Peter Fissel and an above-and-beyond-the-call "chase me down and take me to bird" effort from Steve Thiessen, I was finally able to get great looks at the Pacific Loon on Lake Monona in Madison. When I finally saw the bird, it was on Squaw Bay just off of the Woodley Lane. Another highlight included a quick count of 175 Horned Grebes as I scanned the lake from Stone Bridge Park on the far east end of Lake Monona. There were many more than that in total but boats and different vantage points made it hard to get a good total. Many thanks to all of the extra efforts to provide updates and help me find this bird!
