Late this aft I checked on the Stoughton osprey nest. Two were sitting on the nest and then I noticed 1 flying just north of them, up river. About a minute later the male took off from the nest and landed over on the other pole to the west. Almost right away the 3rd one drifted south right toward the female sitting on the nest. As soon as he tried to land she reared up went at him. He veered off and up but she got her leg caught on the edge of the nest and fell over, I thought she was going to get tangled in the ground wire that runs along the top of the poles. She had her wing on or by the wire but went into a free fall like a kid's kite dropping from the sky. She got below all the power lines and flapped her wings and took off after the intruder. A bluff attack to get rid of him and she returned to the nest. Right away the resident male flew over and copulated with her and then took off to get a stick and returned to the nest. All was happy again in Ospreyville. Other than that I had my FOY Yellow-rumped warblers today. And a FOY Brown-headed Cowbird at my feeder this morning. Big whup!
