I got Lyme's Disease last May. I never saw the tick on me. I got the classic large bullseye behind my left knee. I noticed the red on the side of my leg, and joints started aching. I was on doxycycline for 28 days. You just need the bite so you may not see a tick on you. It was eye opening to see how many people at work know someone or have a family member with Lyme's. Hope the person in California has a speedy recovery.
