Against my better judgement, I birded the northern part of my BIGBY route this morning. Temperature of 25 degrees, wind chill of 13 degrees, and winds straight off Lake Michigan at a steady 30MPH, with higher gusts. And tiny wind-driven ice pellets as well. This video of the stormy lake at McKinley Beach might give you an idea what the conditions were like: http://bit.ly/fmmpvB The weather was miserable, and so was the birding. A grand total of two species (9 Rock Pigeons and 2 gull species). That may well be my lowest species count of all time for any outing! Forgot to mention that my Friday gull count of 9,053 birds is by far and away my highest count for a specific type of bird while BIGBYing. My previous BIGBY record was 465 Common Nighthawks on September 9, 2007. They were migrating over the Indiana University Cross Country Course. If anyone is interested in viewing my GBBC species lists from Friday and Sunday, here they are: * Friday: http://bit.ly/hAmB5T * Sunday: http://bit.ly/e7vKpt Bernie Sloan Milwaukee #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
