My wife and I spent a couple of hours at the Mead Wildlife Area on Saturday for
the Great Backyard Bird Count. On the way we stopped at an area near our house
and saw 100-125 Bohemian Waxwings, with 20-25 Cedar Waxwings mixed in. At the
Mead, highlights included three Bald Eagles, three Red-tailed Hawks, three
Rough-legged Hawks, and a Northern Shrike.
