A Huge flock of Tundra swans just east of Seymour WI as you enter town. They were on the south side of Hwy 54 in a flooded farm field, at least 1000 +. Later a 1000 + flock of Lapland Longspurs in a farm field on the corner of Willow and Huron Rd in Bellevue, Wi today. They had beautiful summer plumage. Cars leaving a church up the road flushed them out of the field as I stood outside my car and became surrounded by the huge swirling flock of birds. It was amazing! They are a life bird for me, first none and then thousands-what a day! There was a summer plumage snowbird, horned larks and also a meadowlark. (thanks to Wayne Kuhn for the heads up on this one). Hooded Mergansers-males and females, a male Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintails, one male Widgeon, a few Canvasbacks, some Blue Teals, several Wood ducks and more swans also spotted in the flooded fields north of the Mack. Several bald eagles also flew overhead. Bay Beach in Green Bay had some Hooded Mergansers-males and females, some Redheads and some of the usual Scaups & Goldeneyes in an area of the lagoon that was not frozen.
