Good evening,
I left work for a few hours this morning, to see if any Canada Warblers
were along the creek, since that is really the last warbler I needed to
photograph this spring. There were several but they weren't very
cooperative. While watching 2 Canada Warblers in my binoculars, I saw a
bird walking on the ground like an Ovenbird, only it wasn't. I instantly
thought Connecticut, but couldn't see the face. A few seconds later, sure
enough, Connecticut Warbler! It was walking through the weeds, right along
the creek, providing some pretty good views. After that adrenaline rush, I
left and returned to work. I came back for the rest of the afternoon, and
saw the Connecticut Warbler at least 8 more times. About an hour before
sunset, it flew into the logjam and was quite tame. Also in the afternoon,
the 3 Canada Warblers, turned into 7 (5M & 2F), giving fantastic close
views. This was the best day at Whitnall Park this spring, from a
photographers view. All 19 warblers were seen at the logjam, throughout the
day. Images of the Connecticut Warbler are at the link below. Here is a
list of warblers seen.
