Last week, I was driving south on Howell Ave just under the tunnel and noticed a very dark, small raptor on the fence. Today, as I was heading north, I saw the same raptor in the same spot. Since it wasn't during rush hour, I parked and put on the flashers, and fumbled for my binoculars. The bird took off soon after I rolled down my window, but it was helpful because I was able to see it in flight and I got a great look at the under wing pattern, allowing me to ID it as a dark morph adult Rough-legged. As I continued driving north, it flew north and looked like it was going to land in some trees in front of the Fed Ex building.
