Greetings! We set up the nets for only a few hours yesterday...very chilly in the AM. Had a relatively slow day of banding, but always fun to be out in the field. Species banded include: ruby-crowned kinglet (4), yellow-rumped warbler, a stunning male ASY black & white warbler, hermit thrush (4), and an American robin. A recaptured black-capped chickadee from 17 Oct. 2008 was caught the other day when we set up nets very briefly. Some species observed: golden-crowned kinglet, Eastern towhee, blue jays, white-throated sparrow, and Eastern phoebe. Next banding sessions will be May 5, 6, and 7th, weather permitting. Cheers for now, Mickey Michelene O'Connor Avian Zookeeper Milwaukee County Zoological Gardens 10001 W. Bluemound Rd.
