Oak Creek continues to be a great place to scan the flocks of Bonaparte's Gulls. On Thursday, I spotted a 1st summer Little Gull and Friday produced a Franklin's Gull. This afternoon, Mike Wanger and I decided to check the 2500+ Bonaparte's flock from the Oak Creek power plant off of Oakwood Rd. We saw hundreds flying north and south so we decided to move north to Bender park. After about 15 minutes, Mike yells, "dark underwings"! About 150 yards out was a full adult Little Gull. We watched it fly north then circle into the bay until we lost it in a mass on Bonaparte's. This was a thrill for me because I've seen better than a dozen sub-adult Little Gulls in my life but never a full adult. Those underwings were black! Get out there and enjoy the show.
