I headed up to Crex Meadows with my wife yesterday to look for the Garganey and also the reported Mountain Bluebird and Chestnut-collared Longspur. We arrived at around 5:30ish and were able to see the bird immediately in the company of three Blue winged Teal at the previously reported spot. Several folks had the bird and were able to get us on it. There was a lot of head-bobbing going on by both the Blue Wings and the Garganey. We met Kay Kavanagh there and we followed her over to the Longspur spot. The weather had turned ugly at this point and we didn't see anything there. We caravaned from there over to the Bluebird spot and found two Eastern Bluebirds along with two Hermit Thrushes.
