The ice above the dam in Husty is slowly giving way to open water, about 100 yards as of later this afternoon. Found my first waterfowl of the year in that spot, 1 male RED-BREASTED MERGANSER. Below the dam near Tri Par there was 1 male COMMON MERGANSER with a couple hundred CANADA GEESE. Also had a low flyover immature BALD EAGLE. On the river on Elmwood Rd south of town were 3 COMMON MERGANSER, 1 male and 2 female. Further west on Elmwood I saw 2 SANDHILL CRANES.
