Mary -

Ravens are occasionally seen at Devil's Lake, and there's some thought that
they might nest in the vicinity. They also show up in Columbia County from
time to time. I'd have no trouble believing a pair could be seen down close to
Sauk City.

Subject: [wisb] How common are (Common) Ravens in south central Wisconsin

Yesterday I was near the Wisconsin River just southwest of Sauk City on the
Cassel Prairie. 2 large black birds flew overhead and I just assumed they
were Crows even though I knew something was "off." Someone in our group
said they were Common Ravens. This got me wondering how common they are in
this area and if it is possible that many novices like myself mistake them
for Crows. I looked on Cornell and saw that we are slightly out of their
normal range and a search on ebird shows that they aren't often reported in
this area.
Any insight would be welcome.
