The wide, distinct eyering rules out Willow or Alder Flycatcher. The long
primary extension rules out Least Flycatcher. That leaves me with
Acadian or Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. I have a lot of trouble judging color
from the computer screen, but this bird seems to have yellow on the throat
and I do not believe I've ever seen an Acadian with that much yellow. The
bird does seem a little elongated compared to a more
compact Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. The White Cedars do seem to be more of a
place that a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher would hang out since
Acadians love deciduous forests. Since I have to pick one, I'll say
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher.

Hi all, sorry for any confusion but I had intended for this to be public
real-time discussion, not a "quiz" where you send me answers and then I
provide sum of responses later. I've gotten two backchannels, including one
in favor of Acadian and another for Least, so clearly we have something to
talk about! Post to list please.

And if you had trouble with the links (with 112 page views already I'm
guessing not many did), here they are again:

Without confirming or questioning the identification, I thought the
submitted photos might be a good platform for discussion of fall flycatcher
ID. Two images are linked below. What species do you think it is, and why?
