migration begins! Geese by the thousands came back to Dodge county today,
mostly Canadas but there were many Greater White fronted geese as well.
Sandhill cranes, Mallards ,Common Goldeneyes , Common Mergansers and some
Pintails in the mix too. Red-winged Blackbirds were spotted as well. Most of
the action is along the Beaver Dam river south of Liepsig to Lowell.
Also check Catbird Rd north of Lowell along Shaw Brook. This evening I counted
by ones the first 200 WF geese then did scope views to count the rest I came up
with an solid estimate of 520 White-fronted Geese about 250 mallards, 40
pintails and 2000 canada geese. Many more geese heading north as dusk...
