We bumped into Daryl and a small band of birders as they were departing Bay Beach on Wednesday morning. Our experience at Bay Beach mirrored their's - that is to say things were pretty slow. However, we did find a vocalizing CAROLINA WREN. It was near the paved road east of the Nature Center near sign post "B". The bird was actively feeding and vocalizing. Spending winters in south Texas as we have, Carolina Wrens are quite common so it took a moment to remember that we were now back in WI where they are very unusual!
