Following a very productive outing for our CBC, I returned today for an abbreviated stroll through Calumet County Park late this morning. Not an impressive list of birds, but there were impressive numbers of a few birds which I wouldn't have expected to still be around. Started off with half a dozen Northern Flickers, a flock of ten American Robins, along with a Brown Creeper, a Red-bellied Woodpecker, and a White-breasted Nuthatch all feeding from what I think were three Hackberry trees along the Lake Winnebago shoreline. There were more of the same kind of tree on top of the cliff where several dozen more robins were feeding. It made for a very enjoyable spectacle I watched for half an hour or so--hoping something more unusual might show up. Otherwise a pleasant walk with more of the usual winter birds.
