We observed a single buff-breasted sandpiper this morning at 10:00 am east of Green Bay along Van Ess Road. (Wisconsin Atlas & Gazetteer page 68 D1). The bird was standing tall & erect in the un-mowed weedy section of the Van Ess Road sod farm, watching for the possible return of the Coopers Hawk that flushed dozens of killdeer off of the same sod area. The bird (on the east side of the road) was approximately 100 yards east of the road and 25 yards south of the gated gravel sod farm access road that bisects the property.
