This certainly is not profound, but I was surprised early this evening to see a Black & White Warbler in my yard, by the living room window in an adjacent tree. This is the first one I have had here in several years, and only the 5th warbler species for the yard this year, so far the poorest ever. At least a few things are apparently beginning to move around, a precursor to the fall migration.
