I have a new camera. Nothing fancy...just a little point and shoot camera with a 14x optical zoom. Something I can throw in my pocket and have with me when I'm BIGBYing. Beats taking photos with my multiple-year-old cell phone. Anyway, earlier this afternoon I was practicing with my camera by trying to take photos of some American Black Ducks behind the Milwaukee Art Museum. Here's one photo: http://bit.ly/gPrn26. Definitely not magazine cover material, but I like it. So, I take the above photo and decide to head home for a late lunch. Right before I enter Veterans Park I see three Mallards sleeping on an ice floe in the harbor, along with a "lump of ice". As I get closer I realize the "lump of ice" is a fourth duck. As I get even closer, the ducks stand up on the ice floe. The duck is the size and shape of a Mallard. But it's pure white, except for the bill and eyes. And it quacked like a Mallard, leading me to believe it's a white female Mallard. Never seen one in the "wild" before.
