The 8th Florence CBC was held on Sat. Jan 2 with beginning temperatures at 
minus 10.  Seven teams of 11 field observers and 15 feeder watchers found 32 
species plus 2 Count Week birds and 3701 individuals.  This species total ties 
with the 2007 count for the lowest, but the individuals total was the 5th 
highest in the count's 8 year history.

Northern Goshawk     1
Red-hd Woodpecker  6  (Record)
Red-bd Woodpecker 12 (Record)
Gray Jay                   2
Black-cp Chickadee 1167 (Record)
Brown Creeper           2
Red Crossbill             2
Wh-winged Crossbill   2
Common Redpoll        1 (Absent in only 1 other count)
Pine Siskin               68
Evening Grosbeak       3 (Absent in only 1 other count)

The 6th Armstrong Creek CBC was held on Sun Jan 3 with beginning temperatures 
at 8 below zero.  Four teams of 8 field observers and 5 feeder watchers 
recorded 27 species and 1910 individuals.  This species total was the 4th 
highest of the 6 year count and the individuals total was the 2nd highest.

Note the absence of Pine Grosbeak and Purple Finch in both counts.
