I spent about an hour and a half at 6th Ave Marsh (Adams Co) late this morning. I was shocked to see a very large mix of shorebirds when I arrived. A majority of the group was Pectorals, both Yellowlegs, Least, Semipalmated Sandpipers, and Killdeer. Mixed in with the birds that were wading was a Juvenile Red-necked Phalarope, there were also a few Stilt Sandpipers and Short-billed Dowitchers scattered throughout as well. A couple Solitary's, a Spotted and, a White-rumped were also present in the mix. I noticed a few birds scurrying around in the grass in front of the water, most were Killdeer but, I was pleased to find 2 Buff-breasted Sandpipers and several Semipalmated Plovers neaby as well. I hadn't noticed the nearby Black-bellied Plover until Mike P of Wausau pointed it out for me. The 16th shorebird species was a flyover Wilson's Snipe. This place just keeps getting better, who knows what may turn up here next.
