Try out GFI's Network security scanner product. They have a trial version you can download after filling out a form. Once it's setup, if you enter domain admin credentials in the proper places before running a scan on your subnets, you'll get back a list of all machines, OS levels, and all currently installed hotfixes. The full product will allow you to push out missing hotfixes. But, the trial version at least reports what's missing and makes a handy HTML report file that you can review later. http://www.gfi.com/lannetscan/lanscanfeatures.htm Check on the left side of the page for the Eval download link. Does something like this even exist? -Nathan -----Original Message----- From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jensen, Douglas Sent: Friday, May 21, 2004 12:08 PM To: 'windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [windows2000] Re: Text listing of installed patches You can use Microsoft's Baseline Security Analyzer. It will probably give you inaccurate information also but it is printable. Microsoft is intending that this analyzer as well as SUS (when it becomes WUS later this year) will eventually report similar (maybe even accurate) information about the patches installed. The baseline security analyzer allows you to scan single or multiple computers with a single click. Works pretty good. It has told me that certain patches are not correct because the version is later than the one expected. That sounded ok to me so I left those patches installed. Is there a tool that will list the installed MS patches/service packs/hot fixes for a given Windows machine. I know that if you use a hot fix executable, you can run it with a -l option, which lists all the installed patches, but to a window. I need this output in text. HFNETCHK doesn't do this, it just tells me what I need to get (and it was wrong on 2/2 test machines). I've already tried google, but if you find it there tell me the keywords you've used as I've tried many. Thanks in advance!
