Memory fuzzy, but I believe firewall can cause this. Gencontrol uses ports
139, 445, and 5900.

Subject: [windows2000] RPC Server Unavailable

Awhile back JK informed the list about GenControl (which is pretty handy!).
Sometimes when I try to connect to a machine I get the 'RPC server is
unavailable' error message. All of our machines are Win2K & XP. How do I
fix this?

I have tried comparing the settings for hosts that I can connect to vs the
ones that I cannot. No luck so far.

TIA

Ron
