Correct, all sysprep does is repackage the machine for deployment.
IIRC, RIS also uploads images to that location, in addition to downloading
them to a workstation. But it's been about two years since I've played with
it to any extent, so I could be wrong.
I *do* know that it is done purely from tools supplied with Windows Server.

I thought sysprep was just to remove the "uniqueness" of a box before an
imaging process. Looking in my win2k book they're saying that you'll
have a windows installation image folder. What process do you go
through to get your "images" in there?
