[windows2000] Inventory Management

Does anyone know an inexpensive inventory management system they currently
use or know of that someone else is using? We would like to get some type
of scanning system that will allow us to tag and scan pc's into inventory.
I am looking into a solution from CDW because that is where we order our
hardware/software from, but they don't have any type of scanning solution.
They would apply the asset tags to the hardware, but we would manually have
to enter our information once it came to us, ie: computer node name, ect.
Does anyone have a simple solution that's pretty much automated?
