Ray's script is cool but only shows the currently set SNTP servers for each machine. If you have time, you can use ntpquery to see who is advertising NTP services. You would have to go through each IP address however, but it only takes a second to check if NTP is running. NTPQuery is free! - Bob Coffman -----Original Message----- From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Costanzo, Ray Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2006 12:31 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: Identifying LAN Time Server Quick and dirty way: Enter this at your command prompt: for /f "tokens=1" %q in ('net view') do (net time %q /querysntp>>C:\times.txt) After it's finished, scan C:\times.txt for a server that responded properly.; Ray at work -----Original Message----- From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rob Sharp Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2006 12:32 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Identifying LAN Time Server Hi there, We believe that someone in the office has setup a network time server that is throwing out another system of ours. Is there any way of identifying which machine this is running on? I've tried running a port scan on port 123, but didnt spot anything. Saying that though I do not know if my port scan software checks UDP ports. Rob ***************************** New Site from The Kenzig Group!
