Hehehehe... Now try running Siebel on laptops on dialup over a non-Citrix
Terminal Services Session. *laaaaaaaaaaaaaaag* *that's* where Citrix
really buys you something, speed and compression.

How about that. I flew out to Texas a couple of weeks ago to visit City
Bank in Lubbock, TX. I went out to look at a product that they're using
that we may get where I work. The reason we picked that bank for the
visit is that they are running all thin clients and everything as well.
They are not using Citrix, however. Just Terminal Services (WS2003
since RC1 in live production!!).
I personally just don't see the benefit of Citrix. Yeah, it's got all
kinds of neat things like seamless application launching and all that,
but it really seems like the cost of it does not justify not just using
Terminal Services, especially in a thin client environment.
Where I work, we do not use thin clients. We use the Citrix NFuse
thing, and people launch their apps via our intranet. That's fine and
neat and everything, but we could have acheived the same end result
without the added cost of Citrix. As it stands now, people wind up just
launching a full desktop session, so the seamless application feature
isn't even being used.
I still believe in the full fat-client environment with software
installed on each system and managed by SMS.
