the Empty Forest Root Domain Controller server? Also, does it contain a
replication of the child domain? For instance, if the child domain
controller fails will the Forest Root box server logins?

Can I create a child domain on the same server that hosts the Empty Forest Root Domain? Or, do I need another server to be the DC for the child domain?
Example: First server has example.com and then I need to create lab.example.com. Can this be done on one server?
