Microsoft Monday released enhancements to its SQL Server 2000 database =
to fix security holes and improve administration. Called SQL Server =
Service Pack 3, the software download =
<http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp3.asp> provides patches =
for known vulnerabilities and includes guidelines on how to configure =
the database to be more secure. Other updates address better error =
reporting, improved multi-server administration, and a monitoring =
function that will let database administrators or third-party tools =
diagnose problems.=20
Database administrators can also improve data replication, and SQL =
Server can now work with third-party data-mining applications.=20
