Joe,
Thanks for your response.

What I am looking for any "peculiarities" of the AD that I would need to
factor into the new network design. To make an analogy with the NDS, since
IPX is a very chatty protocol, we would create small collision (broadcast)
domain to minimize the broadcast storms, etc. I have read up on the nature
of the AD, however have not come across any specific requirements for its
protocol or otherwise.

Have you looked at NetIQ's product for migrating NDS users to AD? =20

As for the switches, I think you mean broadcast domain (seperate =
VLANs). If your currently using a switch, each switched port is going =
to be a seperate collision domain.

Subject: [windows2000] AD Network requirements

I am not sure whether the subject in this e-mail belongs to this List. =
If =3D
not, please let me know.

We will be migrating from NDS to AD very soon. Also, on the horizon is =
the =3D
upgrade of our Cisco 5500 switches. As part of the switches upgrade, we =
=3D
will probably be redesigning our network to make the collision domains =
=3D
much smaller, among other things. What I would like to do is to factor =
the =3D
AD network requirements into the new design. Can anybody please refer me =
=3D
to where I can read up on the AD network requirements as they relate to =
=3D
the overall network design, or happen to know what they are?

Thanks.
