I would do that, but before the reinstall, remove the folder, and anything in
the aplication data area pointing to winamp, then instal it again.

Should she uninstall winamp and do a fresh installation?

    High Arlene,
The problem could be a corrupted file that's causing Winamp to crash like
that.
I had the same thing happen to me.
Winamp does not like home made CD's either.
That will also cause Winamp to crash too as well.
I guess Winamp is looking for alvim and artist information in their data
base.
If the CD doesn't have it, that will disable Winamp and cause it to freeze
up.
I hope I was able to help you all with this problem.
I guess it is one of those bugs that Myself hasn't address yet.
    My best regards.
      John.

Hello friends. I'm asking this on behalf of a friend.
Subject: another error message every single time I try to play an audio
file

        Hi,

Donald 'Dj' Bowen here from Music for Sight. I've joined the
winamp4theblind list at freelists to hopefully enhance my knowledge of winamp.
I use Window Eyes 7.11 and the Winamp script, version 2.8.1 on an XP SP3 Media
Center Edition pc with 3GB RAM, a couple 1TB hard drives and a couple 500GB
USB hard drives.

I have several questions and will start with album art. When I rip a
CD with WMP v.10 I get the album art files. Not so with Winamp. Two things
were suggested on another list. One being wimamp doesn't do album art. The
other being why would a blind guy want album art. The first is probably true
though I'm hoping someone will know of a workaround. As for the second, they
make a very cool bunch of jpeg's for the screen saver slide show that my
visitors enjoy.
