I think it has to do with the new arrow-by-increment feature David also added.

Hi. One interesting thing I'm noticing, this isn't a complaint by any means but it's more of a curiocity. I just updated my scripts to the new ones David just made available, and one thing I'm noticing, at least here is that when I press the fast forward or rewind keys and then stop at a particular point in the file, after the file starts to play again, JAWS now speaks the elapsed time of the file that I'm at. For example, if I load up an mp3 that lasts 20 minutes and fast forward 2 minutes and 21 seconds into it, and I stop and start listening at that point, JAWS speaks the time, 2:21. I don't know if this is by design, or if it's just a quirk on my particular system, but I thought I'd better let people know it was happening to me, in case someone updated and couldn't figure out what was going on. To tell the truth I'm not sure why it does that either, but it's definitely happening with these new scripts.

I'd be interested to see if this is happening to anyone else, and if it's a feature, or just a bug on my system.

Hi,

http://members.optusnet.com.au/bnfiles/winamp4jfw.zip

Unzip to jaws settings directory preferably your personal settings rather
than the shared settings. Should work in jaws7 and 8.

If you use these Winamp scripts, I take no responsibility for anything that
happens to your PC/laptop or any other variants. In other words, use at
your own risk. The only thing I will say is that the scripts work great on
my machine and on machines of a couple of other users who have used my
modified Winamp scripts.

David.

Subject: Recommendation for Those who Want the Library

hi Bruce,
actually this library problem doesn't border me either, but just for the
sake of helping others might need it. i just ask a sighted
friend and she told me that the library is looks different because of the
graphic, so i think this can be solf by modify the jaws
script but too bad i have no knoledge in this area. so, before we take the
steps that talk to the developer, i think we should ask
some one that expert in jaws scripting to assist us in this problem. just a
thought.

Warmest Regards,

I've done a little investigating on my own here. I truly want to help with
respect to the library. It's not an issue I personally have an interest i,
but it's important to enough people that I want to be a part of the
solution. Someone's going to have to break down and get sighted assistance
for this.

First, register for the forums. You'll need sighted help here. Then send a
private e-mail to one of the moderators of the tech support forum. Tha
person likely isn't going to be able to help you directly, but you have to
start somewhere. Very nicely, tell that person who you are and why you're
writing. Tell them that the visual verification makes the forums
inaccessible to us without sighted assistance, but that there's no other
apparent way to contact the people in charge of the program. Tell the
person, nicely, that there are still accessibility issues with the Winamp
library, explaining that these accessibility issues make the Winamp library
unusable for us. Don't just assume that your concepts are understood without
explanation. Don't be condescending either, of course. Ask ther person
nicely if it would be possible for them to arrange for you to directly
contact a developer, so you can help try to track down what the
accessibility problems are and how best to fix them. Emphasize that you want
to work with these people as part of the solution, not just complain about
the problem. Whoever does this should be a techie, someone who knows what
blind people want from the Winamp library, and someone who knows how to talk
the computer language of the sighted. This is how things get done. No we
can't directly contact a developer right now. But everyone has a chain of
communication, and if we can access a link on the chain, we can eventually
reach the end of it.
