Dear board members of the WHPVA,
This is to remind you of the ongoing vote about the mentioned rule
change. As of now, I have received and counted these votes:
Germany: ACCEPT
Switzerland: ACCEPT
Italy: REJECT
Netherlands: ABSTAIN
UK: REJECT
Australia: REJECT
As you see, according to these votes the outcome is REJECT, i.e. the
current rule will not be changed for the 2018 season. If you miss your
entry on this list, please (re)submit your vote. In case you changed
your mind after your initial vote, please note that you can always
resubmit and override your previous vote. The last vote within the
period counts. The vote is open until Monday, October 30th 2017, 20:00 h
CET.
My opinion about the proposal is that it is a fine balance between
simplicity and feasibility (i.e. surveying cost) and that it perfectly
meets our goal of promoting (pure) human powered vehicles. I especially
like the fact that it allows teams all over the world to participate
without having to travel to one single earth location like under the
current rule. Of course also under the new rule there will be one "best"
place for new records. But I am convinced that "second best" locations
under the proposed rule will not be significantly slower/less promising
as it suggests how to elegantly cope with undulating surfaces.
Kind regards,
Edgar
