Thank you to those that replied back to the test message as this was helpful
in ensuring the accuracy of the email addresses of those that have become a
member or subscribed to this eblast mailing list.
Here are some friendly reminders o what?s going on around Whitman Elementary
Madison Cluster Community Meeting
Monday, October 10, 2011, 5:30 pm
Madison High School, Room 101 (may change as needed)
Please consider attending this meeting as information about what the Madison
Cluster is going to recommend regarding realignment or closure of a
school(s) in the Madison Cluster . Whitman Elementary has strong support
from the local leaders as well as the area Superintendant. Please come and
show your support to keep Whitman Elementary from being on the list of
school closure now and forever. By attending this meeting, you can help
send a message to the school board how much Whitman Elementary means to the
students, staff, and community. As a reminder, here are some of the things
that Whitman Elementary has to offer:
Ruben H Fleet partnership
UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering partnership
SDGE partnership
FLASH Grant funding for K-2
Specialized equipment for our DHH students 30,000 sound booth just installed
for our DHH students
Rose Canyon Partnership
Annie's Art School
Instrumental Music Program Music Program
Whitman Elementary is also in the process of becoming the first STEM
elementary school in this area.
Fall Fundraiser
Don?t forget to turn in your coupons for selling 1, 3, 6, and 10 items. The
deadline to turn in order forms is Thursday October 13, 2011.
Make-up Picture Day
October 17, 2011
Make-up for pictures will be on this day, again, you do not need to send
money with your child to picture day as you?ll get a proof in about a week
or two.
Steve Spellman Magic Spectacular Family Night
October 22, 2011, 5 pm ? 8 pm
The show will be on the blacktop, you are welcome to bring your lawn chairs
and blankets.
The Magic Show is almost here and the Whitman PTA is planning on making this
a fun event for families and for members of the community. We are looking
for volunteers to help make this a successful event. Attached please find a
volunteer sign-up sheet. If you are interested, simply reply to this email
and let us know where you are available to help.

November 11 Veteran?s Day ? No School
November 21-25 Thanksgiving Break ? No School
Wednesday - Mission Federal Banking Day
Don?t forget, Wednesdays are banking day for your child that wishes to make
a deposit. Mission Federal is looking for volunteers to help on Wednesdays
for an hour.
Volunteer Opportunities
In addition to the upcoming Steve Spellman Magic Spectacular, Whitman PTA
Board is looking for Parents to serve as Grade Representatives. This is a
great way for Parents to be involved with the Board and to serve as a
liaison between the Board and the particular grade. There are spots
available from pre-school and grades 1 to 6. Whitman PTA Board is also
looking for a volunteer to serve as the webmaster for the Whitman PTA
website.
