Hello Whitman Families and Friends!

HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY!! THANK YOU TO ALL MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR ALL YOU
HAVE DONE!!!

Here are some Whitman PTA and Whitman Elementary happenings:

National Parent Involvement Day
November 21, 2013
San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Unified Council of PTA’s are
promoting this event.  Leaders of Whitman PTA and Whitman ASB are working on how
Whitman Elementary community will be invited to participate.

Parent/Teacher conferences
November 18 – November 22, 2013
School is at minimum days and will be dismissed at 1:25 pm

Fall Fundraiser Delivery Date
November 21,2013
Your student will be sent home with their order. Contact West Coast Fund Raising
company or missing or damaged items, do not contact the school or Whitman PTA.

Thanksgiving Break
November 25 – November 29, 2013

DJ Glow Party
December 9, 2013, 1:45 pm in the Auditorium
For the fall fundraiser participants that sold 10 items, they will be invited to
the DJ Glow Party.

Whitman Fashion Mom
The Family Fun Night was a huge success, thank you to the Whitman Fashion Moms,
volunteers, and community for showing their support.  An order form will be sent
out soon for those interested to place orders for the t-shirts, votes (raffle
tickets), and admission tickets to the event.

Whitman Fashion Mom Show
December 14, 2013
Doors open at 12:30 pm, show starts at 2 pm
Join the Whitman PTA for an afternoon of entertainment, food, prizes, and
Fashion to help raise monies for a Track and Field.

Holiday Shop
December 16 – December 19
Whitman PTA will be looking for volunteers to help run the holiday shop during
school hours.

For those who have served or are active Military, here are some places that are
giving their thanks

On Monday, Nov. 11, the country celebrates Veterans Day -- a day to honor those
who have served in the armed forces.
Many restaurants and businesses will honor veterans with free meals and other
deals. The following deals have been verified for 2013.  (NOTE: Check for
participating locations)

Carrabba's is offering all active duty personnel and retired veterans a free
appetizer on Nov. 9-11. You will need proof of service such as military ID or
dressing in your uniform. Check your nearby location to make sure they are

Veterans and active duty military eat free from a special menu at Chili's on
Nov. 11. Proof of service required.
