Thanks David. It will beimportant for us to be there to document that there is
a problem. For many people, it happened during Christmas, but issues continue
although lessened. Seems like our big chance to have Verizon listen… I’ll be
there.

The purpose is to hear from our residents so the Department can determine if
there is cause to actually open an investigation. Please mark your calendars,
make some notes, and come speak about your experience with our phone system.

some humor)
Hi, Elaine (and everyone else too);
I am glad to report that our state-level complaint (filed with the Dept. of
Telecommunications, or DTC, which used to be the DPU) is progressing. We are
meeting with a rep. of Verizon tomorrow to discuss upgrades to the system
that may bring an end to these constant problems.
We have not sued Verizon. That is a legal action in a different venue, the
court system.
A suit for recovery of payments by individual ratepayers who were not served
by Verizon, I would think, is up to the individuals involved. That's only my
personal opinion. I also think it sucks that this has been going on for 25
years.
We will have more information soon. Thanks for your patience.

In the past week, I have been disconnected from calls a few times; once,
there was no dial tone available, so I couldn’t ‘call back’. Now, I’ve
called twice before since early march, abut the fax & clicking sounds /
and phone calls not going through The phone fixer guy said it was
happening to lots of folks in town, and he’d report it… ( it isn’t
happening at our individual locations).
So a couple days ago I called, got the same robo answering, and really
wanted to talk to a person re: had some fix been attempted, etc.. I called
DPU, who snsered, and said I should be talking to the telecommunications
people, and she’d transfer me….. She transferred the call, (and Low and
Behold) the person answered said, Attorney General Maura Healys Office.
Gotta say, I went with it.
I explained that I had been incorrectly transferred to her, rather than the
telecommunications, and explained my situation, and that of others in town.
The woman was shocked , and asked, with these problems, if we were being
charged
our whole monthly service fee, while things were running so badly. I told
her I have been ( I don’t know about others)..
She suggested that if we wanted to persue this situation, we could as a
group, and if tere were abound 5 people, it could be a strong case. She
said she’d mail me paperwork to look over.
So, I’m wondering what the town is doing at this time. Is it true that we
are suing Verizon?
Are we working thru different channels? ( The first time I called DPU in
Jan it was in tandem with calling Verizon, and they took my call & spoke to
me, with no story about needing to talk to telecommunications..
