Just a note to remind you that we have two openings at the NRTC on Blindness
and Low Vision. These are great opportunities to move from direct service to a
position where you can have a national impact on services. Both positions
involve travel and provide opportunities to develop a national perspective on

The home base is here in beautiful Starkville, MS - one of the few towns in the
country with a free bus system for all riders! We are the smallest town in the
country with a symphony orchestra, and we are the home of all kinds of SEC
sports. We hold 16 of the top 25 college baseball attendance records! Our
campus library is home to the General Ulysses S. Grant civil war letters and
diaries, and we have the Grisham room honoring author John Grisham one of our

Older Blind Specialist
The Older Blind Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of
a comprehensive training and technical assistance program for agencies and
individuals who provide services to persons who are aging with blindness and
low vision. Program staff responsibilities include development and
implementation of research-based training and technical assistance activities,
distance education/training, development of web-based technical assistance
content, program evaluation activities, providing technical assistance to
program administrators, and providing training at workshops and conferences.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling, Gerontology, Vision Rehabilitation Therapy/Rehabilitation Teaching,
Orientation & Mobility, or a closely related field, and at least three years of
experience working directly with senior adults with vision loss.

Rehabilitation Counselor/Training Specialist
The National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision (NRTC) at
Mississippi State University invites applications for a Rehabilitation
Counselor/Training Specialist position. Primary responsibilities of this
position are assisting with research and training activities under the
direction of experienced staff members and providing technical assistance to
individuals who are blind, their families, and service providers. The
Rehabilitation Counselor/Training Specialist will assist in the development and
implementation of a comprehensive research-to-practice training and technical
assistance program related to blindness and low vision rehabilitation. Specific
duties include curriculum development; implementation of research-based
training activities; development of web-based technical assistance content;
providing training at workshops, conferences, and in college classes; marketing
of training activities; and assisting with research projects and in the
development of reports and peer-reviewed publications.
