From; Sophos Alert System: Name: W32/Mytob-AB Type: Win32 worm Date: 12 April 2005 A virus identity (IDE) file which provides protection is available now from the Sophos website, and will be incorporated into the June 2005 (3.94) release of Sophos Anti-Virus. Customers using EM Library, PureMessage or any of our Sophos small business solutions will be automatically protected at their next scheduled update. At the time of writing, Sophos has received no reports from users affected by this worm. However, we have issued this advisory following enquiries to our support department from customers. Note: The IDE issued for W32/Mytob-AB at 04:55 GMT on 11 April also contained detection for W32/Mytob-Y, W32/Mytob-Z, W32/Mytob-AA and W32/Mytob-X. This IDE has now been updated to enhance detection of W32/Mytob-Z. Sophos customers have been protected against W32/Mytob-Y (detected as W32/MyDoom-Gen) since version 3.92. W32/Mytob-Y is a mass-mailing worm and backdoor Trojan that targets users of Internet Relay Chat programs. The worm is capable of spreading itself using the LSASS (MS04-011) exploit vulnerability. Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available. The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment. The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment. The original message was included as an attachment. The attached file consists of a base name followed by the extentions BAT, CMD, PIF, SCR, EXE or ZIP. The worm may optionally create double extensions where the first extension is DOC, TXT or HTM and the final extension is PIF, SCR, EXE or ZIP. W32/Mytob-Y harvests email addresses from files on the infected computer and from the Windows address book. The worm also attempts to set up an FTP server as well as act as an Internet proxy via GET HTTP commands. W32/Mytob-Y also drops a file C:\hellmsn.exe. This file is being detected by Sophos as W32/Mytob-D.
