Hi Brian. I won’t explain everything about midi in samplitude of course, but
you can always read up on it in the documentation.
What specifically don’t you like about Reapers approach? I haven’t used midi in
Reaper, so have no opinion at all, but Samplitude can work in a couple of
ways…I’ll try to explain.
In Sonar, all midi was in 1 big event list, hence it was all there, but very
very inefficient for us, as accessing it via clips wasn’t accessible, even if
it is, I don’t know. In samplitude, say you recorded 100 bars of midi, you can
go through each event the same way you would in Sonar, but equally, you could
split out 1 bar and only work on that 1 bar of midi.
Regarding editing and quantizing midi, that’s all done via keystrokes, so I
guess it’s just a matter of which workflow works for you. If you give me a
scenario of a typical situation you would want to work on the midi, I’ll give
you a real world example of doing it.
Best steve.

Subject: [vipaudioaccess] Samplitude and midi how is it?
Dear folks,
I’ve been spending my learning attention on Reaper for a long period of time,
but I personally think that it lacks in usability when it comes to Midi.
Could someone please explain to me how Midi works in Samplitude, and what you
like about it and maybe also what you don’t like so much?
I come from the Sonar world, where I’ve made lots of midi files over the years.
I also mingled a little with QWS, but it also kills my creativity. 😊
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Brian
