Hi John and everyone.
I've come across some more info about reading notifications with Jaws and
Windows 10.
To read all recent email notifications if you have the notifications option
turned on, press win key + a
To read an autoplay notification, press win key plus v, then press win key
+shift +v, then press enter on the notification to change its options.
That last instruction for autoplay notifications seems a bit weird on the face
of it, but it works, I think the win key +v opens the clipboard.

Using JAWS, have you tried minimising all windows except the notification (or
making sure the notification has focus), and then pressing Ins+Alt+W to
virtualise the current window?
If it works, you should be able to use the PC Cursor on the notification as if
it were a "flat" doccument.
