I use GMail myself too Frank and never noticed this problem.

What it could be though is a setting within the programme you use to get
your email (which I'm presuming is Microsoft outlook or outlook
express)?

In general, these programmes are by default set-up to automatically
check your mailbox for new messages every 30 minutes or so. This time
interval is configurable, so you could have it check every 2 minutes if
you wanted. Off the top of my head I think you can get at it through the
tools menu.

As an alternative, you can force outlook to send/receive all messages at
any time by hitting either the f5 key (outlook express), or f9
(microsoft outlook 2003). These keystrokes will be different depending
on which mail programme you're using. Best to try this, it'll save you
the hassle of going through the complicated menu options.

Hope this is useful.
