Well, that confirms it. TAhe problem is with the list.
Regarding the paypal emails, thanks for the info. And just to reiterate, spoof
emails do not include the name of the recipient in the body of the email, as
already mentioned in this thread.

Hi all.
My last message regarding paypal was delivered to this list but it also came
back to me with Ecartis command results: No commands found in the subject line
and began with the words Request received for list 'vicsireland' via request
address.
Also, the words no command found appears in the message after every line.
Very strange, anyone know what is going on? Is there a problem with the VICS
list, which, let’s face it, isn’t used very much these days?

Hi Flor, Bert and all
Well, this afternoon I got a genuine email from paypal
regarding their Strong Customer Authentication policy and the necessity to
confirm my mobile number regarding same. So, it is happening and we are all
going to have to put up with it.
Paul.

Hi Bert,
As I understand: In their emails, PayPal always use your name that you signed
up with to them. They will never say, ‘dear customer,’ but, dear Albert Brown,
for example. Their emails also contain an address for sending spoof emails to,
always the same one, if you’re in doubt.

How would you know if it is a genuine email?

Hi Flor,
I rarely make payments online, but when I do I use Paypal if it’s an option and
I appreciate the convenience. But I must add one thing: yesterday I received a
mail from them asking me to check and confirm the phone number I gave them when
I joined: it looks as if they will shortly be introducing a text challenge
system for each transaction and therefore need the client’s phone number to
send the one-time code number to us. All in the name of SCA (strong customer
identification).
Best,
Sean.

Hi,
Since PayPal does the necessary emailing advising the other party of remittance
or whatever after you’ve paid into the other party’s account, I’m wondering if
it’s ok to use it (or a similar service if available) instead of going through
the rigmarole of paying from my own Bank into that of the other party -
including inputting the 7-digit code, which may not be required by PayPal? Does
anyone know?
