I have never used any of the tactile screen protectors so please take my
comments with a grain of salt. The problem that I see with these types
of templates is that the iPhone's screen is dynamic and so will always
change based on the app that you are using whereas the template doesn't
change. If you get a template to match up with the telephone keypad for
dialing numbers that's quite convenient when you're dialing numbers.
However, when you're entering letters or activating other buttons within
an app those physical dots will still be there and I would think that
this could prove to be annoying and possibly confusing to some users.
I'm sure that many users could learn to ignore them when they're not
needed, however, so I'm not putting down the concept or the proprietor
of companies like Speeddots which offers these templates. Having said
that I do feel that getting a good case as well as a screen protector is
essential for protection against drops or scratches.

Right. Most telephone systems now have voice prompts, so it's not as***
common to have to enter numbers on the keypad. Of course, there are
some exceptions, but for the most part, it is possible to do
everything by voice now. I have thought about getting the phone
template, but I'm not sure whether that would get in the way of me
using braille screen input, something I use a lot. There are a couple
different layouts I think. One has a dot on each letter of the
keyboard; one has only f and j marked, there's the phone one, and
there's even a braille screen input layout. You can get them in either
clear or tempered glass. I got the clear plastic one. Not sure whether
the tempered glass would make a difference or not.

Thanks, I think you just saved me the money and inconvenience of a***
screen protector. As it is, with no protector, I, sometimes, have
trouble with braille screen input.
I can think of one instance where a little template may help; that is,
the telephone keypad, as long as the template is easy to remove and
attach. It can be hard to enter numbers fast enough. I rarely have to
do this, since so many things, where I might have had to use a telephone
menu system, are possible with apps or web sites.
